With the power of the M1 chip inside the new iPad Air, you get a very powerful tablet for the price. It's capable of handling any tasks you want to through at it, from general browsing, word processing, image editing and a bit of gaming. Who should buy this model, though? Well, the iPad Air sits in that middle-ground between the more entry-level iPad 10.2 and high-end iPad Pro, so it's one for the more enthusiast user.

However, most of the time you just pay an extra $60 and you can upgrade to the powerful M1 chip - that's definitely worth considering. At that lower price, it can be tempting to go for the previous model. In recent weeks, we've seen the last generation version down to its cheapest ever price of $469.99, but it usually sits around the $539 mark.

When at full price, the new iPad Air is in the same price range as the previous 2020 model, which also launched at $599. It is currently $30 off at Amazon, though. There's very little to mention yet in terms of deals, but Walmart did surprise us during the pre-order phase with discounts of up to $60 on Apple's latest tablet. A model with 256GB of storage is also available, as well as versions with 5G support. Prices for the latest iPad Air (2022) start at $599 / £569 for the standard WiFi-only model with 64GB storage.

There are, of course, outliers to this in some cases (we recently saw a 1TB version of the 2020 iPad Pro reduced by over £600 in the UK, for example) and so have included a list of the latest prices below in case any big discounts like this do pop up again. With that in mind, we've decided it's no longer worth trying too hard to find any deals as you will most likely be better off getting a newer model as it's the same price as the last generation version. There is almost no new stock of the 2020 iPad Pro available to buy any more in either the 11-inch or 12.9-inch versions. Bigger discounts could come soon, though, as the 2021 iPad Pro reaches its one-year anniversary since launch. This suggests there's been a more permanent drop from the recommended price, which ranges from $1,099/£999 for the 128GB model to $2,199/£1.999 for the 2TB version. At a minimum, there's regularly around $100/£100 off all storage sizes at the major retailers. However, you also get a slightly thicker profile here than the smaller model. Inside, the latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro features the powerful M1 chip, plenty of storage options (including the new 2TB configuration), excellent CPU and GPU performance boosts and Thunderbolt compatibility as well.Īll of that power comes at a significant cost, though, and Apple is very shy to offer it at a reduced price. That's the main reason (other than additional screen size) for picking up the 12.9-inch iPad Pro over the 11-inch. With mini-LEDs, a 2732 x 2048 resolution, 1600 nits of peak brightness, a million to one contrast ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate it's great for watching movies and general everyday tasks. We think Apple's improvements make this the best tablet money can buy and that screen is a huge part of that. Opt for the larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021) and you get a huge display upgrade. That only puts a small dent in the hefty recommended price of $799/£749 for the 128GB model - and even less when you jump up to the larger storage capacity options that start all the way up to $1,899 / £1,749. We've only seen up to $100/£50 off the 11-inch iPad Pro no matter which storage option you choose. And while the 11-inch iPad Pro doesn't offer the XDR display (you'll need to upgrade to the 12.9-inch model for that), you still get the larger 2TB storage option which is the largest we've seen on an iPad to date.ĭiscounts are fairly rare, though, and when we do see them they tend to be very small. Apple states that the 8-core processor offers a 50% jump in performance over the 2020 model, with a 40% boost in GPU performance as well.įor those after a more powerful tablet compared to the iPad 10.2, then, but don't need to commit to the more expensive 12.9-inch version, the 11-inch is a solid middle-ground given it's up to $300/£300 less than the larger device.
